Description
This excursion combines two of Morocco's major historic sites: the Roman ruins of Volubilis and the imperial city of Meknes.
Volubilis was the capital of the Roman province of Mauritania Tingitana. UNESCO-listed, the site preserves spectacular mosaics, imposing columns and the remains of wealthy Roman villas. It is the best-preserved Roman archaeological site in North Africa.
Meknes, one of the four imperial cities, was Morocco's capital under Sultan Moulay Ismail in the 17th century. Admire the majestic Bab Mansour gate, the royal granaries Heri es-Souani, and explore the historic medina.
